Oregon State Wins College Fishing Event on Shasta
REDDING, CA- The Oregon State University team of Zach MacDonald, of Willits, California and William Sparks, of Corvallis, Oregon won the National Guard FLW College Fishing West Conference event on Lake Shasta Saturday with five bass weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces. The victory earned the team $5,000. The win also helped them advance to the West Conference Regional Championship.

River Herring and Tautog Regulation Changes
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is informing recreational saltwater anglers and commercial fishermen of recent regulatory changes for river herring and tautog fisheries. These actions were taken to comply with Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) management plans for river herring and tautog.
Crawford State Park Hosts Ice Fishing Tournament
CRAWFORD, CO. – Attention ice anglers: Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Bait Box-N-More bait shop will be hosting the 1st Annual Pike Ice Derby at Crawford State Park on Saturday, Feb. 11.<br /> The tournament runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with weigh-ins from 3:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register for the tournament at the Bait Box-N-More in Crawford. Prizes will be awarded for most weight for two pike caught and largest pike caught. The most weight place prize is 75% of pot and 15% for largest pike caught.
California Fish and Game Commission Votes Against Pursuing Striped Bass Proposal
The California Fish and Game Commission today took final action to reject proposed changes to striped bass regulations. In a unanimous decision, Commissioners voted not to pursue a proposal that would have changed sport fishing regulations related to anadromous striped bass, including increasing bag limits and decreasing size limits.
LWFC Commission Considers Commercial Net Season on False River
The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission during their February 2 monthly meeting took action to establish a recurring commercial net season on False River in Pointe Coupee Parish. The proposed action would remove the current net ban and allow the use of specified nets to allow commercial fishermen the opportunity to utilize the resource. A commercial season will allow for removal of undesirable rough fish.
